Two different loading arrangements
Container shipping places an approved vehicle inside a shipping container with planned securing arrangements. RoRo uses a vessel’s wheeled-cargo loading system. Each has carrier requirements, handling charges and route availability. Neither is universally cheaper or better.
Let condition and contents guide the decision
A RoRo carrier may require a vehicle to start, steer and brake and may restrict damaged vehicles. A container may offer different handling possibilities, but dimensions and condition still require approval. Personal belongings and parts must never be assumed permitted under either option.
Questions for a fair comparison
Compare total inland, loading, ocean and destination charges, not ocean freight alone. Ask about availability, estimated stages, permitted contents, coverage, exclusions and the consignee’s obligations. A non-running or modified vehicle needs a tailored assessment.
